Magical climbing frame
“I was aiming for a magical fantasy feel, different to what was on the market. Because the garden width was narrower than the length, I decided to build an octagonal tower so that no 90 degree angles would be visible.” Matt
The climbing frame was built for two children, each child had their own space with a fixed ladder/staircase between the two areas for safety.
The uppermost windows were fixed in place for safety. A small window that could be opened and closed with a shutter was installed so that the children could play with it.
A walkway platform led to a second tower, which had a rope ladder on one side to the ground. The other side had a ladder to a raised platform and a slide.
Below this there was a tunnel they could explore.
There was a window built into the roof so that you could lie and stare at the stars, making it feel like you were part of the canopy of the orchard.
The climbing frame was used for many adventures. Being a place to camp out in the garden as well as a picnic destination.
The climbing frame has been designed to be able to be transformed into a log cabin when the children become teenagers or when the adults want a cabin in their garden as a retreat.
